Welcome Class of 2028!

A warm Irish welcome to you, the students and families of the Class of 2028! Throughout spring and summer, this page serves as a resource for our incoming students and families, with important information, links and due dates. Please bookmark the page and check your spam folders to ensure that you are opening all of your SHC communication.

We will refresh due dates, information, and links on this page until September 1. By then, SHC students and families will be able to use our learning management system, Schoology, for announcements, coursework, homework, and updates from groups such as SHC Announcements, the Parent Association, counselors, teams and clubs.

4/13/24 - Frosh Welcome Morning

Thank you for joining us for our Frosh Welcome Morning. Please contact Ms. Judith Tangaan '93 (jtangaan@shcp.edu or 415-775-6626, ext. 868) if you were unable to attend.

4/20/24 - Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) Selection Due

VPA classes are optional, seventh classes for ninth graders. These acting, art, chorus, dance, instrumental music, and photography classes meet during block 7 or 8 (before other classes) twice a week. While they require good time management and focus, VPA classes develop creativity, joy, and problem-solving skills, and allow students access to more advanced VPA courses in future years.

6/1/24 - Magnus Health registration link emailed to families

6/15/24 (projected) - Course schedules mailed to families. All ninth graders will enroll in:

English 1,2
PE/Health Education
Physics 1,2
Introduction to Religious Studies 1,2
World History 1,2
Math, Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), and World Language course enrollment vary by student.

*Some SHC courses have summer assignments which will be posted on this page, including the De Paul Scholar English 1,2 and the second, third and fourth-year World Language classes (which will be posted May 1). All summer assignments are due August 13 (the first day of class.)

6/15/24 - Online Bookstore and Book & Resource List 2024-25 (with payment link) live

SHC students purchase texts and other course resources for each of their courses. SHC partners with BNC, a third-party online bookseller, for some class textbooks.
All students are also asked to pay a one-time $100 fee for digital or bulk-purchased course resources provided by the teacher.

8/8/24-8/10/24 - Frosh Orientation

Students are asked to attend Thursday through Saturday; parents/guardians are asked to attend Saturday morning.
Note for returning parents: Jumpstart has been incorporated into Frosh Orientation this year.

8/13/24 - First Day of Classes

Summer assignments due; please have all books and have paid course resource fees.

Athletics

For up-to-date information, including meetings and tryout information, please visit SHC Athletics.

Health Registration

All SHC ninth graders must be registered on Magnus Health AND must have a Pre-Participation Physical Exam (PPE) on file via the Magnus Health platform. This is required whether or not a student intends to participate in a sport.

Families will receive an email on June 1 (and no earlier) to register and access your Magnus Account for the 2024-25 school year. Please email Dean Mario Sazo with questions or if you need forms.

A brief tutorial is available on Magnus. Download the SHC PPE Form, have your physician fill it out, and upload the completed form to Magnus. We cannot accept a hard copy and will only accept the SHC PPE Form.
