Piro Scholar Program

Piro Scholar Program Mission & Vision

Rooted in the mission of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Daughters of Charity, the Piro Scholar Program is dedicated to supporting students from historically underrepresented backgrounds and first-generation, college-bound families. At SHC, we believe that education is transformative. Our year-round program goes beyond academics by providing financial assistance, emotional support, and essential resources to ensure each scholar thrives.

Our goal is to empower Piro Scholars to achieve higher education, break cycles of poverty, and lead in various industries. With a focus on leadership, resourcefulness, and advocacy, we help students build the successful and service-filled futures they envision for themselves and for the world.

Piro Scholars are enrolled and selected from one of our educational partners including De Marillac Academy and the Bay Scholars Program.

Welcome to the 2028 school year at SHCP!

This year marks a momentous occasion for our community as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Piro Scholars Program—an initiative that began as a vision of hope and has since become a beacon of opportunity. Born from the passion and dedication of Sister Theresa Piro and the Daughters of Charity, this program has opened doors for countless students to access a quality Catholic education.

Over the past two decades, we have had the privilege of serving more than 300 scholars and their families, guiding them on their journey toward higher education and personal success. We are deeply grateful to our Scholars, alumni, families, community partners, and donors, whose unwavering commitment has breathed life into our mission.

As we look ahead, we are reminded of the profound impact that a supportive and caring education can have on the lives of our students. Together, we continue to build on this rich legacy—one that exemplifies the transformative power of love, service, and community.

Here’s to another year of growth, achievement, and purpose!
