Piro Scholar Program
Program Mission & Vision
Rooted in the mission of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Daughters of Charity, the Piro Scholar Program is dedicated to supporting students from historically underrepresented backgrounds and first-generation, college-bound families. Our comprehensive year-round program goes beyond academics, providing financial assistance, socio-emotional support, and essential resources to ensure each scholar thrives.
At SHC, we believe that education is transformative. Our goal is to empower Piro Scholars to achieve higher education, break cycles of poverty, and lead in various industries. By instilling leadership, resourcefulness, and self-advocacy, we help students build the successful and service-filled futures they envision for themselves and the world.
Piro Scholars are enrolled and selected from one of our educational partners including De Marillac Academy and the Bay Scholars Program.
From the Director of Piro Program
Welcome to the 2025-26 school year at SHCP! The Piro Program, rooted in the vision and dedication of Sister Teresa Piro and the Daughters of Charity, has proudly supported more than 300 scholars and their families on the path to higher education and personal growth. What began as a hopeful vision has grown into a lasting beacon of opportunity, offering access to high-quality Catholic education for over two decades.
We are profoundly grateful to our scholars, alumni, families, community partners, and donors—each of whom sustains our mission through their steadfast support. As we look to the future, we are reminded of the lasting impact that a nurturing and purposeful education can have on a person’s life and on our world. Together, we continue to strengthen a legacy built on love, service, and community.
Here’s to another year of intention, growth, and shared hope.
