Athletics

At Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, our Catholic high school believes that participating in athletics contributes to physical, personal, social and spiritual growth. We take great pride in developing well-rounded athletes from all throughout San Francisco, Oakland, San Mateo, Marin County, San Francisco County, and the entire Bay Area.
Each year, more than 700 student-athletes―a little over half the total student body―compete for the Irish on 58 teams in 24 sports. These young men and women add a chapter to the storied history of our athletic program, a tradition of teaching more than just the game, which dates back to the 1880s. We believe athletics contribute to physical, personal, social and spiritual growth. Student-athletes at SHC gain critical life skills by learning to contribute to a team, working collaboratively, and sharpening time management and leadership skills. Contact us today to learn more about the upcoming seasons or to see which team fits your play style!
Fightin’ Irish History & Tradition
Our athletics program has its roots planted in the late 19th century and has reached some of highest heights here in the 21st. Each of our teams competes in the West Catholic Athletic League, often considered among the highest levels of play in the country. Our tradition of tremendous success reaches beyond our own league, and includes dozens of CCS, Northern California and State titles.
