SHC Names Gregg Franceschi ’94 Head Baseball Coach

(San Francisco, CA, 09/01/23) Sacred Heart Cathedral (SHC) announces the appointment of Gregg Franceschi ’94 as its new Head Baseball Coach. Franceschi served as a longtime assistant in the SHC Baseball Program since 2015, most recently as the SHC Frosh Baseball Team Head Coach.

Prior to returning to his alma mater, Franceschi was head coach of Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton for seven seasons and coached for two years in the college ranks at City College of San Francisco and San Francisco Seals Collegiate Baseball Club. Franceschi has 23 years of coaching experience and has been a fixture in the Hall of Fame Baseball Academy for the last 29 years, most recently as co-director since 2018.

Franceschi’s playing career began at Sacred Heart Cathedral and continued collegiately at San Francisco State University, where he was a four-year player.

“I’m looking forward to this new challenge. Being a part of Fightin’ Irish Baseball for nearly my entire life, I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the program. We have a great baseball history and tradition and I look forward to building on that tradition,” Franceschi said.

In addition to coaching baseball, Franceschi serves Sacred Heart Cathedral as the Production Manager, producing live-streaming events, and managing the Athletics Website and its social media channels.
