Sean MacKay Departs SHC Basketball Coaching Staff

Sacred Heart Cathedral announces that after five years of service to the SHC boys basketball program, Sean MacKay has stepped down as head coach to dedicate more time to his family. During his tenure as head coach of the Irish basketball program, Coach MacKay led the Irish basketball team to the Central Coast Section Open Championship in 2019. Seeded eighth in the Open Division, Coach MacKay's team made a spectacular run in the postseason, defeating top seeds Archbishop Mitty, Menlo-Atherton and Bellarmine, capturing the school’s first and only Open Division title to date. A family man and a business owner, Coach MacKay has been a wonderful role model for the young men in the program. The Sacred Heart Cathedral administration and community expresses their sincere gratitude to Coach MacKay for his years of service and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
