Soccer Academy

Girls: June 15-19, 2020; Boys: July 13-17, 2020 | 9 am - 3 pm

Fightin’ Irish Soccer Academy will offer instruction for players from beginner to elite levels. Athletes will be placed in groups with participants of similar age, size and ability to ensure a beneficial learning environment. Throughout the daily sessions the coaching staff will cover various topics ranging from skill development to tactical organization, field awareness and positional play.

Academy Instructor: Mike McNeill (Boys Soccer)
Mike McNeill is in his first year at the helm as the SHC Boys Varsity Soccer coach. McNeill also currently serves as director of coaching and PDL technical director for San Francisco’s largest youth soccer club, the San Francisco Glens. He was a two-year starter for the San Francisco State Gators after a playing stint in Sao Paolo, Brazil. McNeill has shown the same dedication to his coaching career by earning his UEFA “B” license and currently is obtaining his “A” license. He has served on the United Soccer Coaches Technical Advisory Committee and was named 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Western Coach of the Year. In additional to club coaching, McNeill has spent multiple years coaching at the collegiate level with San Francisco State and the University of San Francisco. Last season, he also worked as the SHC varsity assistant coach.

Academy Director: Mr. Chris King (Girls Soccer)
Coach Chris King has 19 years of experience coaching soccer, including a total of 12 years in two stints at SHC. Coach King is the head coach for the SHC girls’ team who finished runner up in the CCS Division III Finals in 2015 and won their first ever CCS Championship in 2018. He also coaches at the Academy of Art College and has also served as the head coach for several successful San Francisco Vikings Soccer Club teams on both the boys and girls side. Coach King has a United States Soccer Federation National “B” License, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Diploma and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Regional Goalkeeping Diploma. Coach King received his United States Soccer Federation National “A” License in the summer of 2015.
