Chemistry of Food

June 24-28, 2019 | 9 am to 3 pm

Have you ever heard the phrase, "You Are What You Eat"? Get ready to make food, set food on fire, eat food, and use food as fuel all through the lens of chemistry! In this course, we will conduct chemistry experiments using everyday food items to discuss the energy we need and get from the things we eat.  

Cost: 

  • $325 by the “Early Bird” deadline of April 22, 2019
  • $375 after April 22, 2019

Ages: Students entering 7th-9th grades in the fall of 2019

Instructor: Kristy Chun
Ms. Chun teaches physics and chemistry at SHC. She has been a high school science teacher in the Bay Area for six years. Ms. Chun graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Chemistry and then attended the University of California at Santa Barbara to get her MA in Science Education.
