Digital Music & Video Production

July 6-10, 2020 | 10 am-Noon & 1-3 pm

Are you an aspiring artist? Do you enjoy film and music? In this one-week course we will explore how to make our own digital productions using Garage Band and iMovie. The format of this workshop will allow students to dig into their creative sides and express themselves through music and film. Students will produce their own music, adapt/remix their favorite songs, record their own personal stories, make a short film, analyze film and music, and much more. Mr. Michels has a long history of music production and performance, including a degree in Jazz Studies/Ethnomusicology from the University of California at Los Angeles. He looks forward to holding a creative space for young artists who would like to express themselves through the film and music.

Cost: $150
Ages: Students entering 7th-9th grades in the fall of 2020
 A smartphone capable of video recording and photos is required for this course.

Instructor: Nick Michels
Nick Michels has been an educator in the Bay Area for over ten years and is in his fourth year at SHC. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in Ethnomusicology with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. He received his master’s in education and his credential in mathematics from the University of San Francisco. Mr. Michels was born and raised San Lorenzo, California, and has lived in San Francisco for nine years. He is a very active person and considers boxing, cycling and yoga among his favorite pastimes.
