Advanced Boys & Advanced Girls Basketball Academy

June 24 - 28, 2019 | 9 am - 3 pm

Rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders are invited to take their game to the next level at SHC’s Advanced Basketball Academy. Shooting mechanics, offensive moves, ball handling, rebounding, defensive techniques, and strength and conditioning will be emphasized. Athletes will participate in intensive morning skill development followed by afternoon competitive games each day.

*Note—The Advanced Basketball Academies are NOT co-ed. Boys and girls are asked to register separately and will utilize different spaces during the week.

Ages: Rising 7th, 8th and 9th Graders Only

  • $325 by the “Early Bird” deadline of April 22, 2019
  • $375 after April 22, 2019

Academy Director: Sean MacKay (Boys Basketball)
Prior to joining SHC, Sean MacKay served as the men’s assistant coach at San Jose City College for 3 years. From 2008-13, Sean served as the head coach at San Leandro High where his teams were perennial HAAL, NCS and NorCal title contenders. He was named NorCal Preps Boys Basketball Coach of the Year in 2013, and he has coached over 100 high school athletes who have gone on to play in college and in the professional ranks. Sean is a graduate of Saint Francis High School (’95) where he played for the Lancers.

Academy Director: LyRyan Russell ’97 (Girls Basketball)
Coach LyRyan Russell graduated from SHC as a McDonald’s All-American, San Francisco Player of the Year and received a scholarship to play at the University of San Francisco. Coach Russell continued his career after college, playing professional basketball in Germany for six and a half years. While in Germany, he coached youth teams and was named player-coach for one season. After his playing career, Coach Russell received a Master’s of Arts in School Counseling from the University of San Francisco. Coach Russell’s teams have earned two WCAL titles, a CCS title, two NorCal titles, and a Division III State Championship. Coach Russell is in his fifth season as head coach of SHC girls varsity program.
