Advanced Boys & Advanced Girls Basketball Academy

Rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders are invited to take their game to the next level at SHC’s Advanced Basketball Academy. Shooting mechanics, offensive moves, ball handling, rebounding, defensive techniques, and strength and conditioning will be emphasized. Athletes will participate in intensive morning skill development followed by afternoon competitive games each day.

*Note—The Advanced Basketball Academies are NOT co-ed. Boys and girls are asked to register separately and will utilize different spaces during the week.

Cost: $425 Early Bird. $475 after April 17, 2023
Ages: Students entering 7th-9th grades in the fall of 2023

Academy Director: Caesar Smith '98 (Boys Basketball)

Caesar Smith ’98 is the head of the boys basketball program and is currently one of the Athletic Directors. He has been coaching basketball in Texas and the Bay Area for several years. Prior to coaching, he was a two-time All-WCAL and All-Metro performer as well as a member of the ’95-’96 WCAL Basketball Championship Team. In college, he was All-League performer at City College of San Francisco and Defensive Player of the Year for Sonoma State University Men’s Basketball Team. He is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) as well as the World Association of Basketball Coaches (WBAC) and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Academy Director: Demetrius Jackson (Girls Basketball)

Demetrius Jackson is currently the head of the women’s basketball program at SHC. He has been coaching with SHC for 5 years including 3 years as the men’s assistant coach. Prior to that, he was coaching women’s middle and high school programs in the Bay Area for 12 years. He is known around the community from his work as the Athletic Director at the Boys and Girls Club and now at Mission Rec.
