SHC De Paul Scholars Experience Stanford University

HC is fortunate to have a vast alumni network that remains engaged with our community long after graduation day. Case in point: Dr. Michael Rouan ’82. Current SHC De Paul Scholars connected with Dr. Rouan during a recent trip to the university for a behind-the-scenes look at Stanford’s cutting-edge educational technology.
SHC is fortunate to have a vast alumni network that remains engaged with our community long after graduation day. Case in point: Dr. Michael Rouan ’82. Current SHC De Paul Scholars connected with Dr. Rouan during a recent trip to the university for a behind-the-scenes look at Stanford’s cutting-edge educational technology.

Dr. Rouan oversees the production and deployment of broadcast and online courses originating from Stanford’s School of Engineering. He directs all aspects of production for both the television and online programs, totalling nearly 10,000 hours of programming every year. Dr. Rouan previously served as a faculty member for San Francisco State University’s Educational Technology Master’s program.

Our De Paul Scholars had the opportunity to engage in a hands-on exploration of the university’s technology-enabled classrooms featuring distance learning studio equipment. SHC alumna and former Piro Scholar Betsy Alegria ’12 also joined the group to lead our students on a campus tour, offering our scholars her invaluable insight as a current Stanford student.

De Paul Scholar Ryan Tuozzolo ’17 shared her appreciation for the trip, “It was amazing to visit Stanford and experience the gorgeous campus, inclusive classrooms, new technology and even the local, organic food. It was a fantastic way to get excited for college!”
