Coach Demetrius Jackson Returns to SHC

Sacred Heart Cathedral Athletics is excited to announce the appointment of Demetrius Jackson as the Sacred Heart Cathedral Girls Basketball program head coach. Coach Jackson returns to SHC after having served as an assistant boys varsity coach from 2010-16, during which time the Irish captured three Central Coast Section Championships and two Northern California titles. Prior to coaching with the Irish, Coach Jackson was head coach of King’s Academy high school and the High Intensity AAU program, later joining the college ranks and serving as assistant coach at California State University at Monterey Bay.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Jackson graduated from Thurgood Marshall High School where he earned All City honors twice and All Metro once. Jackson went on to play at Shasta Junior College where he was named All Conference and All State, and earned an athletic scholarship to University of the Pacific. At UOP, Jackson was All Conference twice before playing professionally in Mexico for three years.

Jackson shares, “It’s an honor to be named the head coach of the storied Sacred Heart Cathedral Girls Basketball program. I look forward to the challenge and the opportunity. I’m also so very grateful to return to the SHC community, which means so much to me.” In addition to coaching basketball, Jackson works as the resource department coordinator at Lowell High School.
