Class of 2030

A warm Irish welcome to you, the students and families of the Class of 2030! Throughout spring and summer, this page serves as a resource for our incoming students and families, with important information, links (in bold), and due dates. Please bookmark the page and check your spam folders to ensure that you are opening all of your SHC communication.

We will refresh due dates, information, and links on this page until September 1. By then, SHC students and families will be able to use our learning management system, Schoology, for announcements, coursework, homework, and updates from groups such as SHC Announcements, the Parent Association, counselors, teams, and clubs.

If you took the HSPT at SHC, and have questions about your scores, please email admissions@shcp.edu.

Go Irish '30!

CALENDARS

KEY DATES

  • April 10: Student and Family Information Survey. Registered students will receive an email with a link to this survey. Please email registrar@shcp.edu if you do not receive the link.
  • April 10: WORLD LANGUAGE SELECTION All incoming students are asked to select the language they would like to study via the form which will be live March 20. On April 18, incoming students with any experience or coursework in French, Japanese, Mandarin, or Spanish are asked to complete a short written and oral assessment to see if placement in a second, third, or fourth year language class would be appropriate. Even students with limited experience in a language should take the placement test, to ensure that their language skills are developing and to create scheduling options later in high school.
  • Saturday, April 18, 8:00am: Class of 2030 Welcome; Math & World Language Placement Tests. We look forward to welcoming you to campus for our Frosh Welcome Morning. Students and parents/guardians are required to attend our Frosh Welcome Morning in the Sister Teresa Piro, DC, Student Life Center (1055 Ellis Street). For this first official event for the Class of 2030, please plan to arrive a little early (for parking) and please ensure that your student has a balanced breakfast.
    • All students will participate in the Math Placement Test; no registration is required for the test. The test includes 30 multiple choice and 10 free response questions; no calculators are needed or allowed. Sixty minutes will be given to complete both parts of the test (for regular test takers). Pencils are provided.
    • Students taking an assessment for possible placement beyond the first year of (beginner) in a World Language will take that assessment just after their Math Assessment.
    • Incoming ninth graders who have completed a full year of Geometry in middle school may choose to take a challenge exam on Tuesday, August 11. Please note that there is only one opportunity to test out of the Geometry course at SHC; no retakes will be offered. Detailed information and the registration form will be available on the Class of 2030 page later this year.
  • May 1: Visual and Performing Arts Selection Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) classes are optional classes for ninth graders. Taking a VPA class requires good time management but develops creativity, community, and problem-solving skills, and allows for four joyful years of creative learning!
