Class of 2029
A warm Irish welcome to you, the students and families of the Class of 2029! Throughout spring and summer, this page serves as a resource for our incoming students and families, with important information, links (in bold), and due dates. Please bookmark the page and check your spam folders to ensure that you are opening all of your SHC communication.
We will refresh due dates, information, and links on this page until September 1. By then, SHC students and families will be able to use our learning management system, Schoology, for announcements, coursework, homework, and updates from groups such as SHC Announcements, the Parent Association, counselors, teams, and clubs.

KEY DATES
- 5/1/2025: 2025-26 Book & Resource List SHC students purchase textbooks and other course resources for each class. The list is organized by department and course so that students can find the appropriate resources. For example, for English 1,2, students are asked to purchase four books (The Book Thief, The Odyssey [graphic novel], She Kills Monsters, and Zoot Suit and Other Plays). Students may purchase books from any provider or shop at BNC, our third-party online bookstore. Please note that not all courses require a text, and that you will need the student id number printed on your course schedule to purchase books through BNC.
In addition, all SHC students are asked to pay a $100 fee/per student to assist with the costs of digital and bulk-purchased resources. The link to pay this fee will be live in mid-June, and in the fall, students receive login credentials for the various digital platforms. Students are asked to have all books and to complete payment of the resource fee BEFORE the first day of classes, Tuesday, August 12. Remember that delivery time for some materials may take a few days or weeks. - 5/5/2025: Summer Assignments Posted. Some SHC courses have summer assignments, including the De Paul Scholar English 1,2 and second, third and fourth-year World Language classes. All summer assignments are due August 12 (the first day of class.)
- 6/2025: Individual course schedules mailed out; resource fee link live. All ninth graders will be enrolled in the following classes. The numbers following the course title designate the semester

- 8/5/2025 - Geometry Test Out Date 10:00am. Please complete the form to challenge our Geometry course. Students who have completed a FULL YEAR of Geometry in junior high school are eligible to test out of our course and still have the course reflected on their high school transcript (which is required for college matriculation).
- 8/7/2025-8/9/2025 - Frosh Orientation, Class of '29 (mandatory)
- 8/12/2025 - First Day of Classes Summer assignments due; please have all books and have paid course resource fees.

- Health Registration
- All SHC ninth graders must be registered on Magnus Health AND must have a Pre-Participation Physical Exam (PPE) on file via the Magnus Health platform. This is required whether or not a student intends to participate in a sport.
- Families received an email on June 1 to register and access their Magnus Account for the 2025-26 school year. Please email Dean Mario Sazo with questions or if you need forms.
- Download the SHC PPE Form, have your physician fill it out, and upload the completed form to Magnus. We cannot accept a hard copy and will only accept the SHC PPE Form.
- Please see the Sports Medicine webpage for more information; or contact Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer Mr. Oscar Melero or Assistant Athletic Trainer Ms. Jessica Markbreiter with questions.

- Student and Family Information Survey. Registered students have received an email with a link to this survey. Please email registrar@shcp.edu if you do not receive the link.
- Summer Assignments
- Visual and Performing Arts Selection Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) classes are optional classes for ninth graders. Taking a VPA class requires good time management but develops creativity, community, and problem-solving skills, and makes for four joyful years of creative learning! The link will explain your options as a ninth grader and how to show us your artistic talent.
- World Language selection. Students with prior language experience should also take a placement exam. Please contact Ms. Tangaan if you missed the placement tests on April 5.
