Campus Ministry’s Mission and Philosophy
St. Irenaeus, a second century Bishop of Lyons and named a Doctor of the Church by Pope Francis in 2022, is quoted as saying “The glory of God is the human person fully alive.” Campus Ministry experiences play an integral role in the educational mission of SHC by contributing to the holistic growth and development of the human person. In particular it embraces our desire for fullness of life, regardless of its difficulties, and pursues goodness, especially the good of others. In these ways, the holy presence of God emerges in the hearts of all.
Campus Ministry acknowledges the diversity of faith traditions present within the members of our school community and recognizes that some do not subscribe to any faith tradition. Campus Ministry welcomes anyone who wishes to participate and encourages all to attain spiritual wellness. Spiritual wellness means being connected to something greater than oneself and developing a set of values, principles, morals, and beliefs that give purpose, meaning, and direction to one’s life.
Campus Ministry lives the Sacred Heart Cathedral mission by fostering religious faith and spiritual wellness to form people of good will.
