A Single Droplet: Precious Listana ’15 Makes a Global Impact

Before she heads to the University of California at Berkeley this fall, Precious Listana ’15 is making her mark in the international community as an esteemed Borlaug-Ruan Intern, working with International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics in India. As a Borlaug-Ruan Intern, Precious is gaining hands-on experience in original research projects while getting a front-lines view of food security and nutritional issues in one of the world’s most poverty-stricken communities. Now one month into her time in India, Precious is an integral part of her project conducting research and gathering data in the field. Precious shares daily reflections in her blog, "Everyone in ICRISAT is dedicated to end poverty and that might be through scientific research and lab-work, but that is not the only means to ending poverty. One must keep in mind the social, cultural and economic barriers that prevent poor people from food security. One must keep in mind the means of communicating the scientific research to those in impoverished communities. I realized that I am a single droplet of rain in an existing big puddle of rain." Stay up-to-date with Precious’ time in India and follow her blog.
