The Fightin’ Irish Softball Academy will present three days of instruction for players who want to develop their skill set. Offensively, players will focus on  on bunting, slapping, hitting and base running, with emphasis on balance, athleticism and quickness. Defensively, players will focus on defensive fundamentals, catching, throwing, fielding, pre-pitch preparation and situational awareness.

Academy Director - Pat Dunne '98
Pat Dunne '98 has been the head coach of the girls softball program for the past two years. Coach Dunne is a math teacher at SHC and has coached football for 11 years. He brings a sense of pride and accountability to the program and emphasizes toughness, fundamentals and a “team before me” mentality. The softball program aims to play very fast with incredible athletes to constantly put pressure on the opponents. Coach Dunne is a graduate of the University of San Diego, where he majored in communication and the University of San Francisco where he earned his Master of Arts in education.
