The Fightin’ Irish Basketball Academy will offer instruction in shooting, ball handling, footwork, and agility. Athletes will be placed in groups with participants of similar age, size, and ability to ensure a beneficial learning environment. Team strategies, competitive games and scrimmages will be incorporated.

Academy Directors:
Darrell Barbour - Boys Basketball
Darrell Barbour is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Men’s Basketball Program at SHC. He previously served for 12 years as the Head Coach at Woodside High School where he won two CCS titles and was named CCS Honors Coach in 2006. During Coach Barbour’s brief tenure at SHCP he has earned four CCS titles, two Nor Cal title, and the 2009 State Championship. He is a graduate of Notre Dame College, and has coached at Eastern Washington University as well as Cañada College.

LyRyan Russel ’97 - Girls Basketball
graduated from SHC as a McDonald’s All American, San Francisco Player of the Year and received a scholarship to play at the University of San Francisco. Coach Russell continued his career after college by playing professional basketball in Germany for six and a half years. While in Germany, he coached youth teams and was named player coach for one season. After his playing career, Coach Russell received a Master of Arts in school counseling from the University of San Francisco. This will be Coach Russell’s first season as head coach of SHC girls varsity program.
