Short Story Writing
![]()
Dates: June 17–21
9 am–3 pm
Grades: Students entering 5th and 6th grades in the fall of 2013
Cost: $350 (lunch included)
Young writers will explore the myriad ways words and stories are put together, looking for inspiration in the ordinary world around us. Spend mornings honing skills in character, plot and point of view, and afternoons scouting local settings, including the public library, city hall, and the Asian Art Museum. Students will engage in a variety of hands-on activities, including digital storyboarding, to develop their own narrative voice, as well as build vocabulary and tangible classroom skills in the Language Arts. This writing workshop will culminate in a collective e-book publication of short fiction.
Instructor: Cristin Kuehl
