Students Honored with Inaugural Brad Parker Award
The Brad Parker Award for Excellence in Technical Theater was established this year to honor SHC students who demonstrate outstanding leadership, technical expertise and commitment to excellence in all of SHC’s theater productions. Sophia Ynami ’15 and Jonathan Woo ’15 were honored with the award at a ceremony this May.
The award’s namesake, Brad Parker, joined the SHC community in 2005 and was immediately respected and loved by all those who knew him. His technical expertise was invaluable in upgrading and maintaining the school’s technology infrastructure and the implementation of the Sister Caroline Collins, DC, Theater technological systems. Brad’s tragic and unexpected passing in 2012 hit the SHC community. Today, our community remembers his sense of humor, kind-heartedness and commitment to the school’s mission.
Technical Theater Director Tim Mahoney shares, "He was an accomplished musician, and a fantastic storyteller with a great sense of humor. He loved the Irish, the Giants, the 49ers and the Warriors. He was the kind of man that you did not have to know very long to feel like you knew him very well."
