Josh Fox ’12 and Taylor Johns ’12 signed Letters of Intent on April 24 to both play basketball at the University of California, Riverside. Fox and Johns starred alongside one another in their years at Sacred Heart Cathedral and are excited to continue to play together with the Highlanders.
Both were named to first team All-WCAL in their senior seasons at SHC, when they led the Irish to their second CCS and CIF NorCal titles in four years. They came up just shy of the State title, but will still go down as two of the more accomplished Irish basketball players of all time.According to athletic director, Jo Ann Momono, "Both Josh and Taylor have been major contributors to the entire Sacred Heart Cathedral community. Not only are they outstanding basketball players but they are excellent students and fine young men. They have supported their classmates in other sports and are wonderful leaders on our campus. We are sure they will contribute to the UC Riverside community in the same positive way that they have done here at SHCP." The crowd on hand for their signing is a testament to what the pair means to SHC. Besides their respective family members, several faculty, staff, and administrators, and as many as 20 students celebrated the signings, with teammate Zach Tapel ’12 even donning a UC Riverside cap.
