Wrestling News
A HUGE congrats goes out to the SHCP wrestling team who made IRISH history last Thursday night in a very dramatic fashion in the Riordan crusader gym. The Irish grapplers traveled across the city to wrestle Riordan for their senior night. Fortunately the only riordan alumn leaving happy was coach Tran. SHCP wrestling has never beaten the crusaders in a dual meet. The hype was up for this year, and the IRISH wrestlers came out on top with big wins by: RJ Dilag, Dixon Hoffett, John Ricci, pins came from Alex Sinclair, Greg Weinkauf, Patrick Reidy, and Gabe Flores. The dual meet came down to the final match where Kiko Valle faced off against an opponent that Kiko has never beaten. Riding a high Kiko went out there and took it to the riordan crusader, clinching the win. With a 36-27 win, the 2011-2012 SHCP wrestling team wrote their own page in the history book.

JV Girls Soccer
JV Girls Soccer traveled to San Jose Saturday, to face powerhouse Archbishop Mitty as underdogs for the second time this season. Though losing 6-0 their first meeting, the Irish went in confident and continued their strong play as of yet. Led by a strong effort from Captains Ciara Black, Marissa Ryan, and Caitlin Lynch, and goalie Christina Gallagher, the Irish shut out the potent Monarch attack for a 0-0 tie and earned a valuable point in WCAL play.

On Saturday at Crocker Amazon the SHCP boys soccer team took on Mitty, the WCAL’s 2nd place team. Both teams came out of the gate strong but it was the Irish who would dominate the day by posting an impressive 5-1 win. Scorers were Danny Ryan who notched two while William Velasco, Dash MacNamara, and Johnny Rojas each added another. Providing the assists were two each by Velasco and Rojas and the other off a free-kick cross by Oscar Reyes.
The win gives the team 10 wins on the season and moves them within one point to second place in the WCAL with 3 games to go.
