Dance

The Dance Program presents an eclectic movement experience allowing students to immerse themselves in various forms of dance including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, salsa, swing, African, contemporary, capoeira, Charleston, disco and tango. Students learn technique, expression, choreography and how to discuss different dance mediums as a foundation for individual expression. SHC dancers perform in masses, rallies and other schoolwide events both solo and in an ensemble as a means of integrating the material. The program includes the Fundamentals of Dance Technique, an elective course offered to sophomores and members of the SHC Dance Team, the Polynesian Dance Club and the Annual Dance Showcase.
