Educational Technology

Educational Technology serves the broader mission of SHC by empowering faculty, staff, and students with the knowledge and tools to create and innovate in thoughtful ways with technology. Our experienced EdTech team provides faculty and staff with a variety of professional development and growth opportunities throughout the year. Faculty regularly make use of technology to encourage students to evaluate media, build critical thinking skills, and develop digital citizenship and literacy skills.

In the summer of 2012, SHC upgraded our existing campus-wide wireless infrastructure to a state-of-the-art system that supports personally owned computer devices. Student-owned laptops, e-readers, tablets and smartphones are all welcome for the purpose of learning. During the fall of 2012 we implemented our new learning management system, Schoology. From rich forums to social commentary features and much more, this platform allows parents, teachers, students, counselors, club moderators, and coaches to fully participate in the learning process.

In the fall of 2013 we launched our 1-1 learning model featuring the 'Bring Your Own Device' (BYOD) model and philosophy. All SHC students are required to bring a digital device that meets our basic minimal specifications to and from school each day.  Please see the Minimum Specifications page and FAQs for further details on our 1-1 BYOD program.
